About JM

Jouke Mellema (1968), audiovisual specialist and fine artist

As a programme maker, Jouke was one of the brains behind the 1990s revolutionary and much talked about programme “Waskracht!” for public broadcaster VPRO. With that experience he started his own company which independently provides creative concepts, services and products.

He has contributed to culturally radical television programmes such as “Het Grote Complot” and “God bestaat niet” of educational broadcaster RVU. Furthermore, he directed and produced programmes, leaders and short films for public broadcasting companies such as VPRO, VARA, V8, NCRV, KRO, AT5, Omroep Friesland, and LLiNK.

He was the brains behind and editor in chief of Oerol TV at the festival of the same name and he edited and filmed theatre recordings of Hans Dorrestijn and the Dogtroep.

He has produced corporate films and presentations for large companies and organisations such as Control Union Worldgroup, the Netherlands Ministry of Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment, Dirk van den Broek and Amnesty International. Through all these activities he has acquired a vast and varied expertise.

He has directed celebrities such as Robbie Muntz, Fred Emmer, Harmke Pijpers, Attwell & Affourtit, Georgina Verbaan, Sanne Wallis de Vries, Thomas van Luyn, Sjaak Bral, and many others.

Mellema is both a strong conceptual thinker and a trained and skilled image maker with a wide general knowledge about: media, man, society and communication.

Through his skill, knowledge, experience, originality and social skills he is equipped to direct and lead creative (group) processes and he is equally capable of utilising these qualities in reverse as a team player or as a soloist.

Mellema has the ability to bridge gaps between people, disciplines and the media.
